And so am I.
You…and you…and you…and anyone else who tries to convince others to NOT buy from them. Who somehow convinces themself that they aren’t good enough, credible enough, smart enough, to be compensated for helping others make more money in this show we call business.
Because see, if you look at the word convince, you’ll see what the first three letter spell. C-O-N.
And that’s you. And that’s me.
The struggle to find value within yourself is natural and normal. But you are doing a huge disservice to not only yourself, but to everyone around you who is more than willing to pay for the kind of help you can offer, if only you would get off your butt and put it out there that you’re available, and worth paying for.
You’re good enough.
You kick a**.
You take names.
You don’t try to say ‘no’ when someone asks if you can help them with a problem, and are willing to pay you for it.
You don’t try to say ‘no’ when you want to shout from the rooftops that you are so damn good at what you do that these other jokers out there giving the seminars, writing the books, and claiming all the Facebook friends are nothing but posers.
You are a rockstar.
So let’s think about acting like one.
Because to do any different is to con everyone around you into thinking you aren’t as good and valuable as you are. And it cons you into thinking the same.
Knock it off.

Comment by Robin Thomas on March 3, 2012 at 9:33am We all have those limiting beliefs running around in our heads (I'm glad to know I'm not the only one) . The best way I've found to quiet them is to keep taking action steps toward my goals, even when I'm hit with that self-doubt. Thanks for reminding me, Michelle.

Comment by Michelle Gower-WordPress Mentor on March 3, 2012 at 2:42pm I posted this on my mirror one day after I decided to just call myself out on my crap. :) As Oprah would say, "We are worthy simply because we are here."
Glad this resonated with you!!!

Comment by Leslie Flowers on March 3, 2012 at 7:57pm Beyond genius ... I had to read it three times to be sure I got it all MCG. Saucy, spicey, and SMART!

Comment by Leon "The Encourager" Bullard on March 4, 2012 at 7:58pm "Thanks," says my a** to your foot and mine. Needed to read that. Need even more to print that and re-read again... weekly.

Comment by Michelle Gower-WordPress Mentor on March 6, 2012 at 10:08am Glad it did something for you folks! Leon, haven't seen you in forever!!!
The inner critic never fully shuts up - we just learn how to shush it. As Leslie Flowers would say, "What you think of me is none of my business!" And that applies to the inner critic in us as well.
