I saw a few Inside919 friends recently. Some I had not seen in quite a while. In talking with them I heard their stories about what's been going on in their lives this past year. Some shared their general plans for 2012. It dawned on me after I got home that I don't have a clear idea of what their #1 priority is for 2012. I'm talking about specifically, not in general terms. I figured that if I knew what that specific goal was, there would be at least one more opportunity for it happening. If others knew, there would be an even greater chance for their specific goal to happen sooner.
So I thought I would ask anyone who would like to share what their one very specific and key goal is for 2012. Don't write about why it's important or what would happen afterwards, just state what your one very specific goal is for 2012. Do it in no more that two sentences.
I'll start with mine as an example:
To set up an internet affiliate program for my superhero business card product line at www.superherocards.com with 10 affiliate partners throughout the US and Canada.
That's pretty specific and doesn't talk about what music, the economy or my dog have to do with it.
What is your key goal for you or your business in 2012?

Comment by Carol Riddick, Lyoness, Raleigh on December 30, 2011 at 10:32pm Thought provoking! For me... Identifying & Developing multiple, strong team leaders in 12 new states for my Boresha business.

Comment by Diogenes Ruiz on December 31, 2011 at 1:04pm Carol - Great goal! Here's a follow up question and challange for you. What states do you think make the most sense for those 12 new strong team leaders? Is it driven by population or another key statistic? Then the challange would be - are there Inside919 members in your inner circle who might know relatives or friends in those states that might be a good fit for Boresha and can make the introduction for you. Another thought on finding these new team leaders is that fact that church communities might be a great place to find receptive folks who would like to participate in Boresha. My guess is that Inside919 folks are very busy with their already planned visions and someone who is not necessarily an experience business person but a good people person that can get excited about this would be a great prospect. This includes folks in the senior and stay at home mom/dad category.
Thanks for responding to my question. I did check out the website and at least you now have one more person looking out for what you are doing.
I wish you all the best in 2012!

Comment by Diogenes Ruiz on December 31, 2011 at 1:19pm Beverly - You are definetly the media goto gal. Here's a suggestion. Add the "go-to Gal" tag to your Inside919 name (see my name "Diogenes Ruiz ~ Music Go To Guy". Your's should be "Beverly Mahone ~ Media Go to Gal" That will help to strengthen your brand at least on Inside919. You might also want to use that on your business card. You might also want to consider getting a black roady jacket and have "Media go-to Gal" embroidered on the front in small letters. It will beg the question from folks you meet to explain why you are the Media go to Gal. There's nothing like getting an invitation to talk about what you do.
I hope you have a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2012!

Comment by Carol Riddick, Lyoness, Raleigh on December 31, 2011 at 1:37pm Ohhhh, Diogenes, you are really going to make me work, aren't you? LOL Actually I have most states identified... IN, IL, VA, SC, CA, TX, FL, NY, & NJ. I need to find self motivated, coachable, "go to" people in 3 others. Would love it if any Insiders could direct me to folks in other areas, or locally too. SAHMs are ideal... because what we do would allow them to earn in their spare time.

Comment by Carol Riddick, Lyoness, Raleigh on December 31, 2011 at 1:39pm Bev.., you are the go to socal media studdette... but I hear ya. We need to connect soon! Happy New Year!

Comment by Leslie Flowers on December 31, 2011 at 3:13pm 15% Of people even bother to set goals and only 5% write them down! Those who study goal setting with achievement with me each year, REACH THEIR GOALS! Anyone can 'set a goal.' It's not about that. It's about being consistent, persistent and being 'hell bent' on reaching that goal over time (no matter how long it takes) that has it come to pass.
I suspect that the 85% who never bother with goals (or commitments of promises -- all the same to me) don't bother learning "what they don't know" and get results that match lack of goals.
Now the 10% who set goals and and don't write them down have a better 'chance' than those who do nothing (85%).
If you check out those who WRITE DOWN THEIR PROMISES AND GOALS DOWN (5%) fall in love with them, hold them top of mind, and make it their business to emulate those whose lives are balanced, successful and abundant and their techniques, you'll find THEY REACH THEIR GOALS.
One of my personal goals is to expand my reach by 10,000 by 3/31/12, helping people at the impact of devastation and ready to move on, to NOT have to reinvent the wheel. I've got a great one 'ready to go!'

Comment by Diogenes Ruiz on January 1, 2012 at 9:37am Leslie - I'm certain that you will make it happen. Is it two keynote speaking engagements to 5000 people, is it online visitors to your blog? What does "expanding my reach by 10,000" look like for you?

Comment by Diogenes Ruiz on January 3, 2012 at 6:15pm Beverly, Glad to help. Sometimes the best reward is seeing good people succeed. And you are good people. I see the tag is officially on - looks good! Yes, let's get together soon when you are not too busy. I'm pretty flexible.

Comment by Megan J. Huber on January 3, 2012 at 11:59pm I have many goals for 2012 and I do agree that making them public, telling as many people as you can, writing them down, and then creating the necessary action steps and time lines to reach those goals are not only important, but extremely effective and crucial to your personal and professional development. Developing a clear purpose, plan, and staying positive are all necessary to our success!
Here is just one of my 2012 goals:
Create speaking opportunities with various groups of businessmen and women in and around the Triangle two times a month for the next twelve months. I have scheduled both for January so far!

Comment by Diogenes Ruiz on January 4, 2012 at 10:27am Megan - That's a great specific goal. If you have not done so already, you might want to connect with someone (maybe several people) who sells insurance, and has large corporate clients. What you are doing would be an excellent fit for them and their clients. They would add value by having you speak to their clients and you might have all speaking engagements you need by partnering with the right insurance agent.
Also - you might connect with someone who serves as a Knight of Columbus. I understand that they invite speakers to their meeting. I wish you the great success in 2012!
