I spent last weekend at the beach (also known as the “shore” to some from other regions) in South Carolina. It was a wonderful weekend and the weather was perfect. The resort I was staying at had lots of children and watching them couldn’t help but make you happy.
When kids are happy they sing to you, they sing to their friends, they sing to anyone that will listen, even the squirrels and birds were receiving melodies from the kids. Another thing that made me smile were all the kids skipping wherever they went. Yes, some would finally break out into a run but most were just skipping as they made their way to the pool, the game room or the beach.
When is the last time you spent a day skipping as you went from place to place and singing to anyone you met? Maybe that is the problem adults and work, we are so busy and “focused” that we forget to enjoy the journey. Just think about it; what if you decided to spend tomorrow going about your work humming a melody or singing your greetings to everyone you meet as you skipped merrily about?
I think that there is just spontaneous joy in skipping. Don’t believe me, well when was the last time you tried it? You just can’t skip without a smile on your face. And what if we were to spend a day living like we were staring in a musical and had to sing every thought and word as you worked? I think at the end of the day you would be so happy and so exhausted that sleep would come easily with a warm glow.
And don’t even get me started on humming a happy tune or whistling while you work or greeting everyone you see with a smile and a warm “how do you do this fine morning?”

Whistle while you work! Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oY3aljAO7qU
