Here in my part of Southwest Wake County, the best Italian restaurant you might have never heard of is indeed not found in Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, or Fuquay-Varina. However, it is very local, and is found easily within the beautiful North Hills area adjacent to the dynamic Renaissance Raleigh North Hills, just two minutes off Six Forks and the Beltline. Although it is a 15-20 minute drive to Midtown Raleigh for most people in the southwestern part of Wake, it is well worth a first time visit that will have you coming back time and time again.
Mia Francesca of North Hills (4100 Main at North Hills Suite #1115) is simply the best combination of food, service, ambiance and libation in the Triangle Region, and it is a very special escape from our well-frequented NC 55 and US 1 corridor.
As you walk past the ample outside seating and open its large welcoming doors, you step into the sights, scents, and sounds of Northern Italy. From its vast wine list to the must have Chicken Parmesan that simply overfills the plate, the Tuscany focused menu is wonderfully priced and culinary rich. The Lamb shoulder that was featured on Valentine’s Day is simply superb and the fresh pizza is always an amazing treat and you can even create your own. With a focus on the unique farm and sea to table experience, everything is brought in or made fresh right on the premises!
As you sit comfortably in a large booth or overlook the main dining area from the spectacular second floor loft, you will enjoy watching Mia Francesca’s well-orchestrated staff and their attentiveness to everyone as patrons chat and laugh, often to the sounds of a small band in the background. With a focused attention to detail equal from table to table, and the synergy of the open kitchen and active partnering of the chefs and support, this establishment is simply one of the best run we have ever seen anywhere from coast to coast.
The wait staff is always more than eager to please and can quickly and often exceed expectations. Although service is quick and efficient to a “T”, your visit will never feel rushed in any way. You are always a special guest of Mia Francesca for as long as you like.
The menu is stellar, the North Hills location easy to find, and with ample parking adjacent to the Renaissance, it is a convenient and memorable visit any time of the week for lunch and dinner, after work or after the show.
This simply is the most uniquely Italian epicurean experience you can get in the Triangle. For us here in this part of Wake, it is a now a secret no longer. The overall dining experience will have you back time and again. You can eat here in our part of the Triangle any time, but the best experience is up in North Hills!
As you know, my wife Susan and I are from Detroit, where some of the best Italian food exists...
Mia Francesca's makes me think of home.
You just can't put a price on that!
Bon appetit!
