Books, magazines, newsletters, oh my! There is no shortage of things to read! The cold, hard fact is that most likely you won't ever be able to read all of the items you need to or want to. There simply aren't enough hours in the day - no matter how fast you read. And if you keep collecting reading material, most likely you will feel guilty about what hasn't been read and you may feel overwhelmed by the piles and stacks.
Here are a couple of strategies that may help decrease "reading overwhelm":
You'll notice I didn't even mention information that comes in via internet, e-readers, smartphones, etc. It's a topic for another day! But suffice it to say, we have enough information to read to last use several lifetimes. And while you've read this post, more articles and other information have been added to your list!
Let Minding Your Matters® know if we can help you create a better strategy to overcome information overwhelm!

Its one thing to read, another to wait in the line for starting text for a great blog post. I love it. I keep six books at a time on my dining table. I love even looking at and handling the books. I've designed print books and publications for 43 years and the cover, the paper, the printing smell is a passion for me. How the paper feels and how the typefont reads, these are objects of study in themselves. So I'm in the class of older folks where books are my friends and I eat dinner with them. Other than that . . . clear those things out of the way as fast as you can, piles of magazines are serious annoyances. If you don't use em for a serious archival resource they are just clutter and who wants to step over that to relax on one's sofa. Smiles for you - delightful post.
Comment by Janice, Productivity Strategist on September 6, 2012 at 6:44am Thanks for your comments, Pepper! I also keep books & other info around for blog posts. The main thing is to have a good way to "store" as well as a method & time to "delete." Sounds like you've got a system that works for you.
I am still a hard copy book person. I have a Kindle but I only use it when I travel.
