Permission to be Unique

Have you ever asked yourself who came up with the idea of the 5 day a week - 40 hour work week?

If you’re like most, you probably haven’t put much thought to it. You grew up with it ingrained in you, along with going to college, saving for retirement, etc... But the truth is, someone came up with it and others followed it and now we witness millions of people on the roads every morning going to work to punch in their time clock.

There is so much around us that is ingrained in us and we just live in a sort of automatic pilot mode. We have this thought in our minds that “this is just the way it is” and we join in. We figure, if everyone has been doing something for hundreds of years, it means that it is the right thing.

The moment you realize that ONE person created it – and now you follow it can have the power to transform your life.

Everything about you is unique … your eyes, your personality, your fingerprints, etc… So shouldn’t your life be also? Yet we find comfort by looking outside us to figure out who is doing what and what we need to do to succeed, yet no two people are alike and no two businesses should be alike – yet we follow what everyone else is doing, not realizing that what we are actually doing is blocking our uniqueness from coming out and thus, our success!

You see, the truth is that you were born with a blank canvas – and you have been given permission to paint your own, unique life painting on that canvas.

The problem is that by adulthood, your canvas has been painted on by parents, teachers, society, and life … all telling you who you are and what will make you happy.

If most are honest with themselves they would say that they have followed most of what society has told them would make them happy - yet still find themselves empty and unfulfilled.

Most who come to this place of realization quickly look outside themselves to see what the world says will fix their emptiness … and when they don’t find the answers … they except that maybe life is just what it is supposed to be.

But there are those who when they see that the picture on the canvas is NOT who they truly are – set on a path to see what the true picture is supposed to be … and as they walk the journey begin to experience a freedom they never knew existed.

You have permission to live uniquely! You have permission to live unconventionally! What that looks like, no one knows except you and your creator. But the only way to find it is to give yourself permission to find it.
