Does your to-do list drag you down more than help?
Does it feel like it just grows every day rather than shrink through-out the day?
Try a PURPOSE DRIVEN TO-DO LIST, here’s how.
First, become consistent
Each week should and CAN be fairly consistent. Even with children. Make sure you know what is going on each day of the week; sports, school, and community activities. If you are consistent... you will get to choose every activity and not just go “because you have to”. You also may not even need a “daily to-do” list. As your activities will eventually become habit and there will be very few surprises.
Second, You must have a purpose each day. The purpose can extend for a couple of days, but KNOWING that purpose throughout the day will keep you on track.
Third, Set the list up each day (either the night before or first thing in the morning)
Make it a TO – BE list (become WHO you want to be)
Three sections
To BE
1) I am…ENERGETIC
2) I am…ACCOMPLISHED
3) I am…
GOAL
I have …$100+ PROFIT DAY
TASKS
Task 1: Contact Jane Smith on her order
Task 2: Place the completed order (due Thursday)
Task 3: weigh in at weight watchers
Make sure the tasks match up with the TO BE and GOAL. Feel free to add the tasks that “just need done” – i.e. Oil change in the car. Or if you know today is the day to check in at weight watchers, make one of the TO BE’s to match the task. That way you will be in the mood to get it done and that will make at least one task much easier to accomplish.
Be patient, you may have to write this type of list daily until everything begins to fall into place. Also, work may require a brief daily list to keep you on track as there may be others; such as bosses and co-workers to affect your daily activities.
And of course, there is an APP for keeping the todo moving along smoothly. Try this one out....It will let you modify it as I have shown you above or any other way that may work best for you.
