Gratitude poem

Note: Second stanza inspired by all my Inside919 friends:

let us give thanks for relatives who surround
whether across country, street or cross town
for siblings & their families who help us along
lending an ear or their hearts or their songs

for companionship of community encouraging good traits
and reflect back our warmth and mirror our states
for acquaintances who’ve evolved into new friends
and newly-met contacts who help our circles extend

for mothers and fathers who polished our shine
their unique loving molding our edges define
to their early sacrifices overlooked or unseen
and their constant efforts to encourage our dreams

for children, each so special, new gifts in our space
who refresh and refocus and brighten the race
through their struggles and triumphs younger we grow
their presents to parents unbounded they show

for partners in business and partners in play
who’ve reached out to catch us or supported our way
their priceless assistance now may we recognize
as today thankfulness can be verbalized

for husbands and wives whose blessings we share
who encourage our growth and answer our prayers
understand our confusions and value our style
share in the bounty of our triumphs and smiles

for the richness of love and depth of insight
for the grace and opportunity to live in delight
for this dazzling array of treasures magnitude
we pause a few moments to express gratitude
