Did you know that many funeral homes in the Raleigh metropolitan area belong to publicly traded corporations?
These include Montlawn and McLaurin, Brown-Wynne, Raleigh Memorial Park, Apex, and Mitchell funeral homes. Though firms like Brown-Wynne may say they have been serving the community over 100 years, they no longer are privately owned. Because they have a large corporate structure to support, their prices are necessarily higher than the independent locally owned firms. If you are planning ahead (and you should), then compare and please consider supporting your local business.

Comment by Pat Howlett on April 11, 2013 at 2:45pm I am amused at the number of companies who want to claim the "local" tag.
We need to be aware of this - corporations know we are very interested in doing business with local businesses so they spin their message - even if untrue.
