The title says it all. As business owners, we want to do as much as we can to grow. We attend network meetings, advertise, post articles, post on social media sites and get involved with community service projects. Not only are those things great for business but also is a great way to connect with great people and be a part of your local community on a personal level. Sometimes, we take on a little too much, which could end up derailing you from getting where you want.
This has happened to me. I want to do as much as a I can and sometimes have a hard time saying no. Besides running a growing carpet cleaning business, I also am a family man and have things that I want to do for myself. Kids school schedules, activities, family functions and personal things like kayaking, martial arts, playing in a rock band take up a lot of my time. For a while, I was able to handle it all. Somewhere along the way, I hit the wall and was burnt out. I was overwhelmed with so many things that I had to take a brake just to be able to focus on our business. I hadn't posted anything on this site in a while. I almost dropped off the face of the Earth, or at least it seemed that way. I eventually started to get back into the networking circles and get back on track.
I learned a valuable lesson! I need to check myself before committing to things. You can do it all but need to have a proper balance. Sometimes you just have to say no!
