Okay this one is obvious, however many business owners miss this one. Think about this - it's great to notify your immediate mailing list about your upcoming event, but how about enabling your event to have a much wider reach and awareness? Doing this may not generate immediate attendees, however the attention grabbing topic of your event can alert the awareness of someone not already on your mailing list. Once alerted, the next time they hear about another event you have coming up, they'll remember they heard of you before and may grab the opportunity to attend the new event.
Do you write press releases to announce your event? Last week, Bev Mahone, The Media go-to gal asked a colleague of mine this question when she was telling her about her upcoming events. Business owners often overlook this important promotional item. Press releases can get you immediate attention, be easily posted on several websites and possibly get you the attention of the media. Talk about exposure!
2. Building relationships
Your event is sold out, you've prepared your material and you're ready to go! What's the most important thing to focus on at your event? No, it's not what's for lunch. Your attendees! You have a captive audience who came to hear what you have to say, and they also want to connect with YOU. Your ability to connect with your audience while delivering valuable content is the most important thing your can DO at your event. Doing this very, very well will lead to...
3. Opportunity to promote larger value products/services
Here's the deal. With this captive audience sitting there taking in your valuable material, light bulbs and "ah-ha" moments happening, this is the perfect time to offer products or services of larger value. Yes, while they're at the workshop, not after they leave! Some of you may be thinking, "Well, I don't want to sell anything to people while they're at my workshop." Fact is, if you're not, you're missing a great opportunity to offer MORE VALUE to people who came to see you! If you're not comfortable giving a sales pitch, put a flyer in their package. Make a small mention of the special offer and make it time limited. Once you've demonstrated your value, someone will take advantage of your offer!
These 3 benefits have the opportunity to accelerate your business' growth and take your simple workshop from "just a workshop" to a very lucrative experience worthy of being repeated again and again. Good luck!
