Yesterday, after the really rich and fun First-Ever All-Women's Social Media Summit held at the Capital City Club, where Fly Lady and Laurie Foley joined a distinguished panel of local women experts in social media moderated by Pat Howlett, and an equally distinguished panel of local men experts moderated by Bev Mahone, a couple of us found a local spot to grab a bite to eat.
It was
101 Lounge and Cafe at the Corner of Davie and Blount, j…

If you asked me for a tip about growing your business, not that you would, but humor me here, if you did, here is what I would say:
If you're not comfortable with sales
If you just don't yet have a system down
If your momentum isn't consistent
If you really wish you had a team
If you've…

Last night at Oh Mulligans I had the chance to renew my friendships with a number of people I've met through inSide919 and Martin Brossman classes. Just seeing each other in another setting reinforced my sense of familiarity. I met and talked with about ten people I hadn't met befor…

If you're unemployed, perhaps even under employed, affected by the current downturn, and you're still carrying hope, inSide919 has a member who would like to hear your story in your own words and take a portrait of you for a blog series.
I first met Charles Gupton by responding to a query he sent through H…

Through a long story I got to meet Coach Marvin Powell, a super connector and small business advocate in Virginia. I interviewed him and wrote
two blog posts in Here's Honoring You. What impressed me most about him? The high road. He really liked to speak about mission and purpose and aligning everything with that.
I don't know about you, I may start out there, but then there's day to day life with three dozen e…

A latecomer to Twitter, I jumped in with enthusiasm as I discovered I could learn from some of the foremost leaders in social media, and some of the most technologically advanced experts in other fields, by subscribing to their Twitter feeds.
The two line (140 character) feeds, are just like seeing a list of headlines pass before you, allowing you at a quick glance to see what is of interest and what to ignore.
Some people are more social and like to share more personal notes. I'm interested i…

Creating active links (hyperlinks) is one of the most valuable, handy tools available. In these ning.com communities, on the top of most of the places we write, there is a gray bar with a "B" for bold, "
I" for italics,
U for underline,
S for strikeout, a clasp or chain link, for creating hyperlinks, a green rectangle for adding images and photos, and a tiny white page for adding a file.
Start a blog post and see it.
So here's what you do.
Highlight the text you want to ad…

Winds carrousing like a pack of wolves, tearing around the hilltop, no apologies for pushes and shoves, just blasting through.
The day is warm, but the fiesty winds remind of winter. With the barren branches of the trees, there's no mistaking this warmth for Spring, or Summer, or Fall. Winter is here.
Outside some birds are calling loudly, happy for the safflower seed about; easy food. The sun inches its way towards the distant treetops beyond the rooflines, shifting the light so quickly this…

I for one would love to hear some stories of what you enjoyed at the Holiday Social that Dancing Elephants so graciously hosted for inSide919!
Anyone want to share?
I had a 6pm presentation in Raleigh, only my second one on the topic, and so at the last minute just cut myself some slack so I was more prepared for the presentation. I would have liked to come and meet in person those of you I've followed, greeted and missed online.
So how about it? Tell us what fun you had! Tell us how meeting…

Would you share your experience?
It would be a wonderful holiday gift for the community, to pass along the good news.

Amy and Rob are the 993rd people on inSide919! By my calculations that means 7 more and the big 1000 has been reached! Very exciting!
I bet, if some of the people who joined two for one - like Amy and Rob, joined singly, we'd be over 1000, but we have to go by the numbers, and the numbers add up to 7 more!~
If you haven't begun to feel the excitement about inSide919 yet, take the time to search for topics you are interested in and then drop in on those people. Look at the photos of the members…

I found out about the Sock-athon when I asked Diogenes to lunch. I'd heard he had thought up a fascinating book title, and wanted to meet the kind of person who thinks that way. Over lunch he shared that he had a thing for super heros, that he had even written a book about the qualities of s…
