The show we were on was called:
The White Standard of Leadership
"As I hear people talk about race more and more there is discussion about “a post race” society. A new study out of Duke University provides a very different perspective about our country. It found that Americans expect business leaders to be white. This bias held true across racial lines. On our show, we take some time to think about the validity, assumptions and conclusions of the study with two wonderful…

Why would a professional organizer give jelly beans as a gift? Jelly beans are one of my favorite candies to give because they are a consumable gift, which means no clutter. Plus, green is one of my favorite colors, and there are lots of jelly bean flavors that come in green... I just cannot decide which shade I like best! Kiwi is my favorite flavor, and kiwis are from New Zealand, which is a 19+ hour flight from the Triangle. I would LOVE to visit New Zealand, but I just cannot imagine over 19…

There are two approaches to healing:
One is to find whatever has been weakened and damaged by illness, then repair and strengthen it.
Another is to find whatever remains viable and healthy, and support and strengthen it. Since it is one body, fortifying one aspect brings healing to all the rest.
So too, the healing of the spirit: One path is to grab the weakness by its horns and fix up your act. Another is to focus…

Last week, Barton and I drove to Asheville for the weekend- it was quite an adventurous trip. On the way to Asheville, the plastic top of a pick up drove flew off, soaring over the highway and landed in my lane- right in front of me. Swerving into the emergency lane, we averted the flying oblong disk.
Yet we ended up behind another truck driving erratically between two lanes. We realized that a couple was having a fight that was not only verbal but physical as well. The truck skidded…

When I least expected it, I decided to reach out to the economically impaired province (no, really)...
My business is experiencing a shift as I adjust from having constant and repeated walk-by business to none-a'tal. Of course we all know the constant draft of wind screaming at us, "LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!" and if I'd had the brains, I just might have attempted to pay attention to the fact that although I have a quiet office environment in a convenient location for most of Cary…

Here the new podcast - Successful Negotiations, my latest podcast with Jeff Snell.
Quotes from the show:
-“At the end of the day if both parties are not satisfied with the transaction the negotiator has not done their job.”
-“Determining what deal you are willing to do is as important, but equally important is determining what deal you are not willing to do.”
-It is important to “create…

Some folks prefer simple, black and white while others enjoy a rainbow-variety of colors and choices. Jeri Dansky, a professional organizer in California, recently blogged about different wardrobe preferences and I added my two cents, including a photo of my very own closet.
Want to think about two different ways to organize your wardrobe? Take a look at her blog posts: 07/30 and 08/03

My father has been having a computer crisis- his laptop crashed. While the technology specialist he contracted was looking at it, they dropped it which broke another piece off the computer. So he has been without a computer for several weeks. Even with backing up files, the time consumption and hassle has greatly impacted his work.
At the beginning of the year, I went through a similar situation with my PC. I was working on a story for the N&O North Raleigh News when my computer…
