Top 5 Home Improvements for Home Sellers

Every seller wants to try to get the highest possible price for their home, and sometimes that means making some improvements. So what investments in home improvement do we see making the most difference? Here are our top 5:

  1. Fix what's broken or worn: homes for sale in Raleigh are up against a wide array of offerings including plenty of brand-new construction -- and that means buyers can and will be choosy. Unless your home is in the absolute BEST location in your…

Gone For The day

I called one of my “selling owner” sales coaching clients at about 2:30 PM yesterday, and the person who answered the phone told me that she was “gone for the day.” Now, I’m not saying that it’s not OK for the owner of a business to take part of a day off, or for any employer to do that, salesperson or otherwise. What I am saying is that it’s dumb for whoever answers the phone to tell me that! What if I were a customer, calling to talk about an order—or even worse, a problem! If I’m at work…

Moving South With Feng Shui

When I lived in Boston, I learned to walk fast, speak briskly, and save the chit chat for family and close friends. Your washer needs repair? You state what you need, the location, establish the time—and you hang up! You do not mention that the service man was recommended by your colleague whose floors he just finished.… Read More

Thoughts on Seth's latest blog post?

Seth Godin posted a blog entry about the fact that his friend's local store is closing down due to a new Walgreen's popping up.

I think he was a bit cynical and one-sided with his point of view, but that he did make some good points.

Day 27 — Inside 919 Adventure — A few good men . . .

Final Friday was again wonderful! I attribute that to the good will of the group but mostly the work of "a few good men". Pat, Martin, and Bill — all capable leaders of thought, bringing us a wonderful experience. Again the thing I find so special is the good will of these men to work together on the same team.

Imagine 65 people in the room and complete silence. Men and women all focused on the support of one of their peers devising creative solutions for their business dilemma. One… Read More

Day 26 — Inside 919 Adventure — Junto or BNI or both?

The other evening Pat Howlett and Martin Brossman put on an introduction to the JUNTO groups about to be formed. I noticed with delight that Steve Hand was present. One of the more delightful and good spirited ways to do business was demonstrated so subtly for us you could almost miss it. The idea is that collaboration can come in many ways and it always trumps competition.

These Junto groups could perhaps be thought of as a marketing small BNI group, if you didn't understand the… Read More

You think you’ve grown wiser from your experience. Then . . . you meet someone . . . a man who seems to have so many of… Read More

What makes a good watch for a beginning Diver.

The best dive watch that is good for the beginning diver can be purchased from any Wal-Mart or Target or on line for about 35-40 dollars. Most of the watches in this price range are digital in nature. You can however get a rotating bezel (in one way only) for around 75 – 100…

Robbing Peter To Pay Palm

If you take a short stroll down the snack isle of your local grocery store, you are bound to notice a package or two, or ten with the message "No Trans Fat!" prominently displayed on the packaging. This message is dutifully accepted by the casual observer as being a good message. What consumers may not realize is that the changes food manufacturers have had to make to maintain a zero-trans-fat image may be just another “rob Peter to pay Paul” moment in history.

Fast food, fried food,… Read More
