Re-finding myself in music -- Real Nostalgia!

Many years ago I recorded a birthday tape for my father. I was 22. Sitting on the bed in my apartment with my guitar, turning on & off the tape recorder -- I poured my heart out, sang songs to my Dad to tell him how I felt, sang songs we used to sing together, bared my soul sharing new songs I wrote.

My father passed away in 1992. I was a single parent at the time & the only child in the immediate area. My sister & brother came in for a few days, but I was alone when I had to clean… Continue

Music for Life

Music for Life

I am trying on a new concept: "Music for Life". Music has been an integral part of my life since birth. My father sang to me. My mother hummed around the house. Our family entertainment was sing-alongs after dinner & holiday events. High School & friend activities were centered around music. Good emotions & heartbreak were reiterated in the music I listened to. I wrote music to spill my heart out. I shared my music for my own emotional comfort and that became somethin… Continue

Hiring live entertainment for an event? I will gladly share my experiences.....

As a former entertainment agent, I was in contact with both reliable & unreliable musicians, all sorts of professionals, organizations, and families, people who were confident about what they wanted in music & people who were not. People use live music (& DJs) to enhance the atmosphere at an event or to entertain the guests, provide dance music, etc. People sometimes use "canned" music. Though I no longer act as entertainment agent (maybe I'll revisit this in the future?), I am still… Continue

Paula, it's a dream come true for me that I now know so many very creative people, that I actually get to hear people say what you just said: they'd like to hire an assistant and a manager, or I would call the manager a coach, so that in time you actually learn the ways of self-management and use the coach for higher work. Let's do talk sometime, OK?

Hi, Paula. I listened to parts of some of your songs - lovely tunes! I would've liked to hear some of the holiday songs, but my browser wouldn't play them :( Listening to your music takes me back in time to the 60s music. I like the folksong feel of your music.

That's great to hear, Paula! I think I know the meetup group you're talking about. Several members have come out to see us in the past few months, and we've had a great time with them. You can check out some of our tracks at www.myspace.com/beggarscaravan, and we'll have a new website with lots more in the coming months. Thanks again, and have a fantastic week!
