I’ve been asked this question ever since the I started the first indieconf a few years ago. Recently I was asked about this from the perspective of someone who is hoping to get in to tech-conference speaking (and I hope most people in the tech field give it a shot at least once – you might like it!) The short answer is no! There are dozens of events for techies to go learn about great tech stuff. I go to some myself, and enjoy them, but the aim of indieconf is different. While many (most?) of the attendees will have a technical background (developer, designer, etc), the conference is meant to focus on the soft-side of working for yourself.
