Such great comments. We are in the process of interviewing new personal care assistants, and I think we have learned so much about the right kind of questions to ask, things we had not even thought about before.

Megan's Version, When Help Just isn’t Working: Letting Go Our Personal Care Assistant

I'm deviating just a little. I'm posting two blog posts from our personal blog, www.loverollson.wordpress.com. Usually, I might shift them into a business perspective. But, these posts are so important in changing and addressing issues that all of us must consider at one time or another in our lives.

So today was not a fun day. We had to have a discussion with Barton’s morning personal care assistant, and in the end, we parted ways. It’s… Continue

Barton's Version: When the support isn’t supportive

I'm deviating just a little. I'm posting two blog posts from our personal blog, www.loverollson.wordpress.com. Usually, I might shift them into a business perspective. But, these posts are so important in changing and addressing issues that all of us must consider at one time or another in our lives.

Yesterday, as Megan said in her post, we had to let go of my morning help. While on one hand this was extremely difficult for me as we had… Continue

After the Speech is Over

Several weeks ago, my husband Barton and I were the keynote speakers at the People First Conference in Jackson's Mill, West Virginia. This conference focused on healthy relationships, with the overall theme of creating more independence for people with disabilities. We spoke to over 220 participants about our relationship and started a dialogue about people with disabilities creating relationships, as well as the challenges and successes along the way.

We drove up early Wednesday morning for th… Continue

Life Insurance is Hazardous to Your Health: A Story in Two Versions

Barton and I have been flushing out our new blog on www.loverollson.wordpress.com, a place where we talk about the adventures in our relationship. The response to it has been phenomenal, and we have received many comments about how we stagger our stories in a "he said, she said" manner. While this may seem cliche, of course I won't remember everything that happened, and Barton doesn't either. Then we also have the husband/wife factor that plays into our stories as well.

When crazy things hap

Running Out of the Hamster Wheel

The last few weeks, it’s felt like I’ve been running in the hamster wheel. You know the feeling- working as hard as you can but feeling like you're not getting anywhere.

I’ve been working on a project where I’ve gotten caught in managing the disputes of people who have past history, of each other or the project. Trust me, there have been times where I’ve gone- and why did I take on this project?

And that’s just it- seeing the larger vision and mission and taking a step back to remind myself of… Continue

Megan, I've been looking for a writer I can partner with to help create scripts for videos. I was wondering if we could have a coffee or a phone chat and see if that's something you might be interested in. Let me know, thanks!

Hi Megan - I landed here from reading your most recent blog post. I'm interested to learn more about the marriage thing, but for the moment just wanted to War Eagle! I actually grew up in the small town of Vance, just up Highway 11 from Tuscaloosa.

Thanks for coming Megan! I am so glad you and Barton had fun and even more cool was that Barton celebrated his birthday with us! I love that. But the show was made even more exciting because the audience was so participatory. When people really jump in with suggestions and truly enjoy themselves, it just adds to the overall energy. You guys were a great audience. Thanks again and I look forward to talking with you again at other events!
