About my Business:

Professional artist with diverse experience working with children to explore their creativity and discover their unique talents.

Creative Endeavors: My personal work consists mostly of acrylics on canvas, pencil & charcoal on paper. Works bring forth the beauty of nature, landscapes, and interesting architecture. Paintings have shown at galleries, the NC State Fair Art Competition, art shows through my church and at Cary and Raleigh-area coffee houses.

About Me:

Outside the Lines Art Instruction - Artist/Mentor one-on-one art mentoring at studio or student’s home – activities tailored to needs/desires of student;
- conduct art workshops for students at Neighborhood Academy of Music, Clayton, NC – media covered includes: pencil, charcoal, pastels, acrylic paint, tempera, and air dry clay.
Other teaching experience:
- prepare arts and crafts of a biblical nature for use in Sunday lessons on a rotating basis using Kingdom Kids Program, while teaching various principles from the bible and helping children with their character development.

Why Art should be part of every child's curriculum

Whenever I get discouraged in my art venture and think about quitting (in addition to selling my art, I am mentoring children in exploring their creativity and discover their unique talents) a former student will come up to me, usually the cutest kid on the face of the earth, and say, "Miss Jo, when are you going to have another art workshop?" Ouch! Stab to the heart! OK I get it, this is what I need to be doing!

What a great thing to be doing. I think art in any form is such a wonderful thing. I do calligraphy and sometimes I do ink and paper pieces. I usually do tiny designs with words hidden in the work. I did one for my mother in law for her 90th, and included the names of her three sons.
