Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood Awareness

About my Business:: I am the Co-Founder & President of Cure AHC (www.cureahc.org launching 2/21/13) because of my son Matthew who suffers from this rare disease. Cure AHC is a 501c3 dedicated to curing the rare disease Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood, to improving the quality of life for sufferers in the meantime, and to raising awareness in the community to gather funds and identify new cases. What would you do if your child suddenly couldn't move for minutes, hours, even days at a time? What if this mysterious disease severely impacted your child's ability to learn? What if it was permanent, incurable, untreatable, debilitating, with no known root cause? These are the realities for those who suffer from AHC. This means I experience these first hand as a a parent of a child with AHC. The good news is that Matthew (like so many with this disorder) are also very determined to live life to the fullest). The videos on my profile will give a good picture of the challenges and triumphs of living with AHC.

About Me:: Proud dad of (nearly) 6 year old Matthew (as you can see above :) ) I am a seminarian at Asbury Theological Seminary pursuing M.Div degree & ordination in the UMC. I have a passion for growing roses (over 60 bushes in my garden). I am from Chicago originally (Go Cubs! Go Bears!) but don't like cold weather (my ideal retirement destination is Costa Rica)>
