About my Business:
The Fragile Family Network

All families are not healthy, some are fragile. Factors such as substance abuse, incarceration, child welfare/foster care, juvenile justice and homelessness cause family dysfunction. Such families need help to heal. The Fragile Families Network was created to provide support, training and technical assistance to agencies and organizations assisting fragile families.
About Me:
In the extraordinary challenging field of social issues impacting public health, Dr Glenda Clare is a rock, a light and a guiding voice. Her far-ranging body of work as a researcher and clinician, specializing for more than 20 years in HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, incarceration, domestic violence, foster care and homelessness, has earned her the reputation as one of the nation’s leading experts on these critical issues.

Dr. Clare’s approach to public health and treatment is rooted in her own personal experiences. She grew up in the South Bronx of New York City, and is intimately acquainted with the dangers threatening the physical and psychological wellbeing of families everyday. Now a resident of North Carolina, she founded the Fragile Families Network (FFN) to create a resource for social service providers, trainers and researchers. FFN seeks to improve the understanding of these issues and the way treatment and solutions are provided, particularly in the South where such professional services are in critical need but short suppply.

A leading member of national training teams, Dr. Clare has facilitated training for health and human service professionals within communities of faith, community-based organizations, neighborhood associations, the criminal justice/juvenile justice system, the mental and public health systems and local, state and national government.

Dr. Clare is also a licensed Baptist minister, and has developed a blend of both northern and southern cultural heritage that allows her to be down-to-earth yet polished and refined as she brings hope, humor and faith to those tackling some of our nation’s most challenging issues. She is the author of Unto the Least of These, a powerful and deeply personal account of her own experience with the process of guardianship and adoption, and Eight Steps to Abundant Living, a professional’s guide to working with fragile families. Both titles are scheduled for publication and release in 2010.
