- I am a CPA with 25 years experience working with small and emerging business owners. I prepare tax returns for individuals (1040), partnerships and LLC's (1065) and corporations (1120 and 1120S) as well as the accompanying state returns. I also prepare financial statements and have worked extensively with non-profits.

Do you need to issue form 1099 Misc?
Many small business owners ask me "Do I have to give out 1099 Misc forms?"
For many small business owners the answer may be yes. If you have paid anyone $600 or more you probably need to issue that person a 1099 Misc. The IRS refers to these payments as "Nonemployee Compensation."
What is nonemployee compensation? If the following four conditions are met, you must generally report a payment as nonemployee compensation.
