About my Business:
Well, I have a couple of businesses going right now:
1.) Professional Voice Artist: I've enjoyed a great career using my voice to greet, inform, train, entice and entertain! Bringing words to life is what we voice artists do. I operate a pro audio studio and can produce and deliver high quality audio in any format to anywhere in the world. I helped write many a script too. Narrations, commercials, phone systems, web-based training programs, corporate communications, audiobooks, podcasts, imaging, phone systems, interviews...whatever you listen to. I'll be posting my demos as soon as I figure out how to do that!
2.) AMERICA AT WORK is giving a VOICE to Small Business! A@W is a collection of audio features that highlight Small Business Owners, Entrepreneurs and Professionals. Through expert interviews and some production work, I create fun, fast paced, informative, inspiring features that introduce listeners to real folks doing what they love, making America work! You'll hear their voices share their very real experiences and be amazed over and over again at the talent, ideas, and passion out there! www.AmericaAtWorkStories.com

Don't Start A Business

If...

If you want to work 9-5

If you don’t dream

If you know it all

If you won’t ask for help

If you like things easy

If it’s hard to bounce back

If you think customers just buy stuff

If you don’t like to read

If you don’t like to write

If you don’t like to network

If you’d rather watch TV

If it has to be your way

If you need a sure bet

Don’t start a business.

A Conversation with Chuck Hester - LinkedIn Guru!

The upcoming Final Friday Forum event features Chuck Hester, a big proponent of LinkedIn and all things 'social media.' I thought it timely to share the transcript of my 'sculpted feature' on Chuck. Since the original interview he has grown his network to over 10,000 and LinkedIn Live here in Raleigh boasts attendance over 300!
But the heart of the matter hasn't changed.

The Touch, Taste, Smell and Feel of Business

When you’re a small business owner, you learn by doing.
It’s a combination of personal vision, drive and an accumulation of actual experiences.
The stuff of real life, as opposed to “Gee, wouldn’t this be neat” or “Try this.”

There isn’t an expert, self-help, business book out there that can come close to preparing you for the way you’ll feel when that opening day you’ve planned months for, comes and goes with barely a new customer. Or you spot a rip-off of your product design in a shop a town… Continue

Musings With My Feet Dangling in the Water

The water felt so good - warm and soft. The night air still hot. Frogs whirring. And I thought about how fun it was to chat with the two folks I interviewed yesterday. Really! Sitting there, calm and peaceful, I was grateful for the connections and the conversations. And by sheer coincidence, they both involved...books.
Juliana Morgan is the author of Zach's Tracks - a delightful story of her beloved pet's adventures (true story that took place here, in North Carolina… Continue
