The Senate's Vote on Extending and Expanding the Home Buyer Tax Credit

An interesting article from Bloomberg that is worth sharing.

Vote on Extending Homebuyer Credit Delayed Over TARP (Update1)

Oct. 30 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Senate won’t vote until next week at the earliest on proposals to extend both an $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers and unemployment benefits for the nation’s jobless. The administration endorses an extension.

Senate action was delayed by a Republican demand that a vote be allowed on an amendment to end the Treasury… Continue

You need a REAL alarm clock

I have been reading for years that time blocking is the key to getting the important things done on our to-do list. Sometimes I get focused into a project and while I’m being very diligent, time gets away from me and then suddenly I’m shocked to realize that I’ve been working on it 30 minutes or an hour longer than I had planned. By the end of the day I have 3 or 4 items still left that I expected were going to be completed already. This often happens when I’m researching something on the intern… Continue

Housing Stimulus - Can you really get $8,000?

There have been a lot of questions this week about the recently passed economic stimulus package. By far the most asked question is “What the heck does it all mean?”.

It means that if you who qualify as a first-time buyer (those who have not owned a home for the last 3 years) and make under $75,000 if single and $150,000 if married qualify to receive a credit on your 2009 return which can actually put money back in your pocket. How about buyers who buy a home and want to make improvements? It l… Continue

Back to the Vision Board

You know how you sometimes do a really great thing? And then you don't do it again, but can't explain why? Duh! It's so obvious it was a genius move the first time but somehow you forgot. If you're into puns, you can say that I "lost sight" of it.

I was at a meeting on Wednesday with a great speaker, Tamara Bunte. She talked about visualization and how it allows top atheletes to achieve what was previously impossible like breaking a world record. My epiphany was that I need to create a vision b… Continue

yes
About my Business:
Since my family moved from Massachusetts to Texas to Massachusetts to North Carolina, I was endocrinated into real estate at a young age. At 17 I started as a weekend receptionist at a real estate office. I worked as an administrative assistant while going to college and had a unique opportunity to mentor under an experienced agent. I got my real estate license at 19 and have enjoyed working as a Realtor for a long time.

Clients say they use me because they know I am very straight-forward and honest with what I think and they appreciate not feeling like I am "selling" them. I consider myself more of a consultant rather than a salesperson because my priority is to service my clients and protect their best interests.

I have a wide area that I service including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Carrboro, Holly Springs, Hillsborough, and Apex. Many agents say they work the whole Triangle but I can prove it!
About Me:
I moved here my sophmore year in high school "several" years ago from Massachusetts. It was over 20 years ago so for the Triangle I am almost considered a native North Carolinian. I graduated Apex High School and attended NC State. I'm a graduate of NC State's College of Management with a BA in Business Management.

My office is in Cary but I live in Durham with my veterinarian husband of 10 years and my 2 children. People always think we have a ton of pets but we have scaled back since we have kids. We currently have 2 dogs but have had birds and a number of foster animals.
My Ideal Customer is:
A person who wants an agent who will listen to them first, then outline the pros and cons of the choices available. My customers want to be educated so they can make their own decisions.
My Ideal Referral Partner is:
A professional who recognizes helping others will come back ten-fold. Insurance agents, attorneys, financial planners, personal bankers, home inspectors, and mortgage lenders are all excellent referral partners for me.

Hi, Amy,

I appreciated your comments and viewpoints in your Profile section. Service and listening are so important, and educating rather than 'selling' your services is something that I highly value as well.

I'd love to discuss the possibility of working together, especially since we share much of the same philosophy of working for our clients.

Please contact me if you have a few minutes for me to describe my Staging background and what I have to offer home sellers...I would love to have a chat with you!

Sincerely,

Laurie Hooten

Hi Amy,
I remember the house - it was in Durham. Rebuilt after a fire I think?? I actually did another job in that same cul-de-sac this year. This one was a hot water heater rupture that went undetected for some time. Huge mess. Glad to see you are still doing so well through the market downturn. Thanks for connecting. Trying to figure out how to get the mold picture to my page and my face to my profile. . .
