Eric,

Hello and welcome. I visited some of your site and yours in particular. Is it right you are located in
Royal Oak, MI?
Thank you Stephen. Glad to be apart of the group. Yes that is correct, my business headquarters is in Royal Oak, MI. I have a second location in Apex, NC as well.
Welcome then! I think you are our first multi-city member! Glad to have you with us and best of luck with all your efforts!
I recently switched my site and blog to Wordpress and while I'm very happy I'm not a web designer and customizing the elements to make the site feel like my own has been difficult. It gives me the option to put in my own banner but when I upload it nothing happens. Also want to make the general font bigger but I can't seem to find it in the CSS like I did the others. I think I may need to find a different theme cause I'm not 100% in love with it but it was the closest I could find to what I wanted. Would love some feedback though.

Rebecca,

Customizing themes can be challenging until you've been at it for a little while. One of the tools I use to investigate and tweak css is called Firebug. It's a great Firefox plugin - you can find it here: http://getfirebug.com/.

Essentially, when you turn it on a little window opens at the bottom of your browser, you select the point/selection tool in the upper left and point it at a page element to reveal the html and css code behind it. You can even edit the code in the window and see instantly how your changes will look before you edit the actual code.

Using the tool, I found the css code for your text size is on line 25 of the style.css document. Under the appearance menu, select editor and then make sure you are editing style.css - usually it is the default file that appears but make sure. Then, look for this code:

body {
background: url("images/bg.png") repeat-x scroll center bottom #000000;
color: #4E4E4E;
font-size: 13px;
font-style: normal;
}

And change the font-size to a size that works better for you.

Not sure about the issue with the header. Have you optimized the image for the web and sized it to the proper dimensions? I might need a little more info to help you with that one. Feel free to respond here or reach out to me directly.

Hope that helps get you started!

Thanks so much Stephen this makes my life so much easier. I have optimized it and sized it for the dimensions of the header but it's just not working. Going to play with it a bit more and see if I can figure out what the problem is.
I'd be happy to help with the header if you aren't successful. Reach out to me through the email system here and we can talk particulars.
Just finished this one...

Thanks for sharing Dr. Practical!
2 months ago I didn't know anything about website design. There are so many great teachers out there that make it fun and easy for anyone to learn!

James,

Thanks for sharing your site. A nice clean implementation of the Thesis theme which is one of my personal favorites. I like how you guys are using video and placing your contact form prominently on your home page.

I also like that you built out a number of landing pages relevant to specific search terms such as "Chapel Hill Chiropractic Clinic | Durham Chiropractic Clinic | Raleigh Chiropractic Center | Chapel Hill Family Chiropracitc Care" and so on. A nice tactic. I am curious about the final one in the list I just copied as Chiropractic is spelled incorrectly. Did your keyword research indicate that this typo is common when people search?

The right misspelling of the right keyword can indeed bring lots of traffic, but you want to be careful how you handle that so you look like you are on top of it rather than a poor proofreader -- which I surely am by the way.

Anyway, I get loads of traffic to a blog I run because of a post titled "What is Fecebook Fqcebook Fzcebook Facebok or Fscebook" with a matching url which opens with the line "Can you imagine how many people mistype Facebook in Google for: Fecebook Fqcebook Fzcebook Facebok or Fscebook" In this case, the misspelling is acceptable and can drive lots of organic traffic.

There's a lot of good things going on with your 'on page SEO' as well, nice urls and page titles. One thing I'd recommend is considering revising some of your paragraph headings. Many of them are either bold or italic text, but you'd be better off replacing them with h2 or h3 tags and embedding some keywords in those.

For example, "Reducing Pain" on the home page might become an h2 tag - Reducing Pain with Chiropractic or "Enhanced Healing" could also be the h2 tag - Chiropractors Enhance the Healing Process
.
Just a few thoughts. Thank for sharing and welcome to the group!
Thanks for the feedback I'm glad I found this group!
