Social Entrepreneurs

My belief is that one can do good business and also do good works - it does require that you make this idea a core value of your companies DNA. We'll explore opportunties and ideas related to this topic in this Group. More to come...

Just makes sense....

I think it makes sense that while we're playing a role in creating an online community to connect business people - that we acknowledge the fact that the Social Health of the Triangle contributes to its overall business environmental success and in turn our success?

That was a wordy way of saying... social stuff is really important to business.

I would like to see more partnerships between the two for sure.

Just out of curiosity - if there was an event in September that gave businesses an opportunity to explore networking and partnering with the non-profit community - would anybody here be interested?

My Eco Lamp is excited to share that we are now in the process of also helping with the recycling of e-waste.

Hello All,
I am always interested in helping others. This is really my passion. Putting food on the table is my primary focus; however, it is really a challenge when you intinctively enjoy helping and giving. I will not run down the many ways that I help the community, but will mention that my company sponsors a youth leadership academy that focuses on creating leaders in the community, leading others and self. I am anticipating the next group being sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club. In working with teenagers I know the importance of community; therefore, I am always open to ideas and partners.

Hi all. What a wonderful group of dedicated, caring and talented people. It's nice to be a part of this.

I do a lot of graphic design work for local non-profits (including The Women's Center in Chapel Hill and UNC Lineberger Cancer Research Center's Beach Ball). Eventually I would like to create a virtual agency, Communications for a Cause, to help non-profits (especially those without budgets for communications) reach their clients and donors through effective visual communications, branding and marketing.

I have worked with Chapel-Hill Carrboro YMCA who are planning to build a Youth Center for teens and have more recently developing a marketing plan for thegreenstandard.org who coach various design manufacturers on how to make their products more sustainable ... wishing all great success in their endeavors.

Hi all - I'm delighted to see such a group of like minded souls exists. It makes for a better world. Keep up all the great work and wish everyone great success in their projects. My passion is bringing the community together in the name of wellness to benefit military families. Please consider joining us online at meetup.com/wellness-for-warriors-triangle. Be well. I am glad to be a part of this group! I am working with a non-profit foundation called Star Foundation (http://star-foundation.org), located in Durham. that works with underprivileged kids and provides mentoring services, summer camp and other programs. I see there is a non-profit directory below and I will check that out - thanks Schelli! :)

I also work with a natural nutrition company, Shaklee, one of the oldest direct selling companies and admire their socially responsible stand on the products they produce - the best of science and nature. See my site at www.bestlifepossible.com for more details.

I look forward to learning more with you guys about being a social entrepreneur! :)

Hi folks. I'm new to inside919, and I'm curious if anyone here attends the Social Entrepreneurship Meetup in Chapel Hill that's hosted by Ryan Allis. It's this Thursday, April 16th at 8:00pm and I'm thinking about going, so if anyone here is planning to attend, it would be great to meet. Do a search on "Social Entrepreneurship MeetUp" to get the details. They are also on Facebook. Enjoy!
