Linking Groups: NC State Group for Licensed Massage Therapists

Transparency: Everything on inSide AreaCodes networks is fully open to the public. So every discussion we have in an open group, as this one is, is fully visible on the internet, by anyone.

The good news about that is that being on inSide919 makes us easier to find in searches. And, for this group, it means that any discussions about the profession for the profession should probably happen in a dedicated forum for massage therapists.

Here it would be good to discuss issues that the public might be interested in, or that may benefit the public.

Privacy For private online conversations about issues of concern to the profession, we have a state wide ning group called North Carolina Massage Therapists. ning.com (NCMT ning group) to which all licensed massage therapists in the state, and massage students are invited to join - for free, of course.

The private group is only visible at the first page level, anything below that requires membership. It affords the kind of privacy one might have at a professional conference.

Are any of the 21 massage therapists in this 919 group offering specials for the holidays? Gift Certificates? Anything for inSide919ers?

How do you get on the list for hospitals or community centers to have a booth at health fairs?

Anyone interested in donating a massage(s) for a Silent Auction?
It's a fund raiser for the family of an 8 yr. old with a rare form of cancer. They are under-insured and the chemo. rx plus radiation tx. is a huge expense for them. The event is 10-17-09. Ask me for more details. I'm one of the planners.

I am looking for volunteers to practice techniques on myofascial release (Anatomy Trains) and Cranio-Sacral therapy. I have been reading very interesting books and I want to practice!
Please contact me if you are interested or if you know someone who like to get a free massage session in order for me to practice!
Thanks!

Hey Phoenix,
The conversation isn't happening here, or in the North Carolina Massage Therapists network on ning. We all have so many places we relate.

This group here helps us reach each other if there's an event or opportunity, and it also signals to inSide919 and visitors from beyond who many of the massage therapists are here. So it has value that way.

Is the traffic slow in the group? Or did the group move to a place where more conversation is happening.

Why is it that we are so interested in belonging to a group, yet do not participate more fully? Is it our need to 'belong' that keeps us signing up and signing in, without actively giving of our ideas, thoughts, comments etc?

Hello Holly!
I attended the National Cancer Survivor Day at Duke last Sunday, and it was a very rewarding experience, specially that I am a 21+ year cancer thrivor (Thriving is more than just mere surviving!).
I was busy the whole time and people appreciated the sessions!
Thanks!

Who would be interested in providing chair massage at Duke this Sunday, May 3rd? Duke Center for Cancer Survivorship has created a special event and I was planning to be there. Now I must go out of town and don't want to leave without a replacement. Set up is @ 11 am and event ends by 2 pm. Please let me know asap. Many thanks in advance.

I'm excited to say that we have 74 members on the North Carolina Massage Therapists Network

First create the network, then see what arises. It's a new year, already February! Wishing you all well.
