A repost from Pat Howlett :

A] The answer is really simple: to grow your local business. If you are looking to network with other professionals, find new business opportunities or to build your personal brand on the Internet, then joining a social network is the first step. inSide919 gives you exposure to new local contacts.

Q] I am a member of Facebook or LinkedIn? Why should I join another network?

A] First, every network is different and provides you with different tools for different objectives. So it makes sense to belong to different networks if you find value in the features they offer.

That said, lets compare Facebook and LinkedIn specifically to inSide919.

Facebook - is a great social network for sharing content with Friends, and keeping in touch with people you know or share an interest with. However, due to the more social than business nature of the service - it may not be the best place for you business and professional image. Facebook is notorious for hooking-up, sophomoric features and it only takes one comment or photo to paint a negative image of your business or brand.

Linkedin - Services like LinkedIn are made for the professional, but are very limited in features. LinkedIn primarily offers a way to post your resume or biography, and validate your experience through your network. LinkedIn is a powerful way for professionals to find jobs, but does not provide any outlet to truly grow your network and proactively build your business.

But the main difference is that most National Social Networks are just that - they're National. inSide919 is about as local as a Community can get.

You can actually meet and do business with everyone you meet inSide919.

I have added a 'How to Questions' (FAQ) section to the Forums area. If you have a question about using the site - please post them there. Everyone will have the ability to ask and help in this forums area and it will maintain an easier to follow flow.

As to the question below, simply look to the right of the page for the 'My Settings' link, click on this and then on the next page look for and click on the 'Email' link (left). This is the page for email notification control - make changes and save.

One person I saw today asked me if they can control the number of email updates they get from www.inside919.com. Does anyone have an answer? If you can not it sounds like a good suggestion for improvement.
