“It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It
is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the
soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose
coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.”

Thanks for all who serve our country. It is truly appreciated. May God keep you all safe. Let's not forget that once these brave men and women return home they still need our help in many ways!

Thank you, Pat, and all of our Veterans and their families! Thank you doesn't seem enough for the sacrifice of our service men and women and their families. We are FREE because of what you all do for us. One day, I pray, we all truly understand what that means.

Pat to you and all Vets (my dad and grandfather, included), we are humbled by your sacrifice. Few talk about what "really" happened over there. We appreciate all you men and women do to keep us free. For those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, we are truly grateful. We may never fully understand "what" happened, but we know "why" you did it - for FREEDOM. Thanks again.

Thank you for all that you've done or are doing to keep our freedom safe. I cannot imagine the thankless acts you're never recognized for.

Our prayers are with you and our gratitude is always growing.

I also want to say thank you to all the families who are left behind. You are sometimes forgotten and your sacrifices are just as important. You raise the children while your sweetheart is gone and you run households as single parents while your loved ones fight for all of us.

Thanks to all you men and women who have served and defended our freedom. Thank you to your families who have sacrificed too while you were deployed or out in the field training. And for the times they lived with out you while you were abroad.

We appreciate your dedication to our country and time you have served.

With heartfelt thanks,

Paige Williams

Thank you to all the veterans. I grew up in a house with an F-16 pilot who served for over thirty years! Now, he is chilling out in Nashville, NC in his new gun shop called Nashville Guns. Thanks to everyone in the military and those overseas.

"Some events are written in pencil; War writes in permanent marker." - Letha Costin

I was listening to an interview on NPR with several veterans at various stages of their return from deployment. While I consider myself to be empathetic, I realized that I didn't really "get" how much time this process can take. I was also guilty of having some subconscious idea that the goal was to get back to normal. However, normal had moved for most of these veterans. There was no going back...only forward.

As any good writer would do, I crafted lyrics that represent a single aspect of this multi-faceted creature called war. Miles constructed the chorus and amazing music. Gregg, who is a navy veteran, put his heart and voice into the song.
I hope that it increases greater awareness and inspires deeper compassion for those who have served, their family, and friends.

Visit www.myspace.com/transzenders to listen, or www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xTL_EVu7zI to watch a tribute as you liste.

Peace,
Letha
