The 919 Local Business Network

Seriously, I was thinking about how I am going to launch my new company and I thought about Inside919 and the Insiders (you). As I pondered how to reach them I realized that there are folks on here that REALLY know how to use this medium.

So, I need idea's, what are the top couple of things I should do...?

I am launching Springfield Catering this week. I have a ton of catering experience from formal events like the Governors Chief of Staff's retirement at the museum of science to the Cary Town picnic...

We can do anything and want to do a lot of corporate lunches...

I need to get the word out.

What is the best way?

Thanks!!

I am not a social media queen buy any stretch (see Assistant Angel for that, I highly recommend her. She is Angel Lebak and is on Inside 919).

twitter, facebook fan page, an email blast to friends and family spreading the word...Blog posting here. going to networking events and letting people know. WPN is having Cocktail & Contacts Monday night in Apex.

I believe someone told me you are a fellow West Virginian, so let me know how I can help. Hopefully, you can get something of use out of this.
Yes, Fellow West Virginian! Thanks for the input, I am going to work hard to get the word out.
First, look to the people with whom you already have solid relationships and know who you are.

Can you add posters or brochures at Rallypoint for patrons to take with them?

I might suggest holding a tasting event at Rallypoint of Springfield's items, invite meeting planners/corporate HR folks, and have a talk on 'how to choose a caterer'.

Start a blog that gives tips on how to choose a catering service, how to plan the food portion of an event, what a slicing fee is, how to stretch your dollar, how the process works...knowledge is power.

The various HR associations have opportunities for monthly sponsorships - you'll get to go to the luncheon, meet HR people, get an introduction. Ask if you can provide the food goodies as well.

Donate Springfield creations to as many local networking events as you can, even if they are appetizers, in exchange for recognition.

Contests where folks can enter to win a fully-catered event (up to X in value)...that could be a big kahuna-type thing.

Just a few ideas off the top of my head for now...
You are good, I am writing down...
Something that maybe you're interested is The Perfect Wedding Luncheon. The have once a month one luncheon that cost 20.00 per person. This month will be at Bay 7 in The American Tobacco in Durham. I have attended this luncheon the las 6 months and sponsor once with linens. I have met people in the wedding industry and has helped my business. On Sunday they had the Bridal show and it was good maybe you can think about participate in future Bridal shows. E mail me and I'll send you the link for the luncheon on September the 29th. You have to sign up to go to the luncheon.

This is a good networking lunch for everybody in the wedding and event business.

Good luck!!

Tamara
Do you have a link to the folks that put on the event? I would love to go!

Please also remember the Tuesday morning Local Coffee Breaks. Every Tuesday local coffee shops in the area host inSide919ers. This is a great opportunity to get out and meet people and let them know what you do. The event is often posted each Sunday so you can check to see which coffees shop will be most convenient for your daily schedule.

I also loved Michelle's idea of offering a tasting event.

You can read Angel Lebak’s blog to see how inSide 919 has help other businesses get started. Best of luck to you! Terri
Hi Drew,

Here is the Link. Hopefully I meet you in person on the luncheon!!! Wish the best luck!!

I would also visit a bunch of BNI meetings in your area and let people know about your business. You might consider some kind of promotion just for BNI members. http://www.trianglebni.net/
There are a lot of networking events going on in the area that have produced relationships for me. They include Durham Leads, Cary Leads, Hillsborough Leads, Durham Chamber of Commerce and Cary Chamber of Commerce events in addition to the inside919 events.
