ahhh Dave, if one has read these books and is still struggling .... as you say, then one can surmise that simply reading a book is not enough to effect change. I have your book and it is a good one ... as are the others you mention. They are very GREAT. I hold the image that yours will be among them!

One of the oldest and the #2 bestseller of all time which contains measures gathered by those who were and are now wildly successful is Think and Grow Rich. Even as the #2 best seller, people still struggle, etc. That is why I conduct 8 week studies on this book and 12 weeks with You Were Born Rich ... to give folks a chance to study, absorb and put the principles into practice and over time, thereby creating NEW HABITS.

Most of us know in our heart of hearts (ancient Greek term for intuition and 'knowing') what is getting in our way ... and are nonetheless powerless to change! Perhaps we can turn your book into a mastermind study so people will actually 'get' what they need and put you up there with Covey and Canfield!

I read a lot about Hill. I read a lot about Covey. I don't buy into the hype.

Hill's book is presented as #2 to the Bible, no? Honestly, I'd argue that it's hype like that which validates Dave's argument. Sure, Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich has sold 30 million copies, but I've yet to see the data that supports the idea that the book is the second bestseller ever.

The final installment of the Harry Potter series sold 44 million copies in less that two years. Does that mean we should take Rowling as gospel?

I offer this not to support Dave's product or to put down your own--in fact, I'm a strong advocate for the notion that no one product can change someone's life. Instead, I urge people to expand their horizons, explore every option (on their own or with a guide like you, Leslie), and it is that exploration that will reveal what fits best with their lives.

Napoleon Hill doesn't know me, nor does Stephen Covey. To suggest that I should "look deeper" into it before I "get it" is clearly not in my best interest. I have my own goals, my own ideas, my own aspirations. Perhaps I don't want to be recreated in Hill's image?

Bottom line, I believe that putting all of your eggs in one basket is the best way to lose out. Open your minds and think for yourselves--there are other ideas out there!

Great minds don't think alike. Great minds think for themselves.

Rob, I have to disagree. Great minds DO think alike, simply because great ideas are the common thread.

Napoleon Hill studied the wealthiest men of his time, and found that they ALL followed 13 principles to acquire their great riches. He didn't create a system all his own, he researched and observed, and shared what he learned. (Now as for #2 in sales to the Bible, I have doubts.) Nonetheless, Think and Grow Rich has stood the test of time, pretty much like any literary classic.

I agree that we each need to make our own choices, set goals, and take responsibility for ourselves. But, exploring every option only dilutes our energy. I like what Robert Kiyosaki said, "Focus = follow one course until successful".
